GI Bill® & VA Education Benefits
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) administers a wide range of education benefits designed to support service members, veterans, and eligible family members in achieving their educational and career goals.
VA Education Benefits for Veterans
If you served on active duty, you may be eligible for VA education benefits, including the Post‑9/11 GI Bill®. This benefit provides financial assistance for tuition, fees, housing, and other educational expenses.
To qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, you must meet one of the following criteria:
• At least 90 days of aggregate active-duty service after September 10, 2001, or
• 30 days of service if discharged due to a service-connected disability
An honorable discharge is required for eligibility.
VA Benefits for Spouses & Dependents
Spouses and children of eligible service members may also qualify for VA education benefits. In many cases, a service member may transfer unused Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits to a spouse or dependent, allowing them to pursue approved education or training programs.
Why Use Your GI Bill® Benefits?
VA education benefits help reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket education costs, making career training and higher education more accessible for veterans and their families.
Eligibility and benefit amounts are determined by the VA. We encourage students to verify their individual eligibility directly through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
